Happy New Year and welcome to 2019!

On this first day of 2019, I’m giving you some tips to help you to understand how to “go with the flow” instead of resisting your goals. As few as 2% of “dieters” manage to lose their excess weight and keep it off for two years and one of the key reasons for this is because they fight against, and create a struggle in the sub-conscious instead of working with “the flow”.

The struggle to diet year after year shows that the body is resisting the struggle – not the challenge! This creates stress so instead of working with your sub-conscious mind, you are resisting. You need to embrace the change instead of resenting it – this is the key to success! Non-struggle removes the element of stress, and once that happens, the body and mind move into balance.

Here are some tips starting out 2019 to help you to bring the body and mind into balance:

  1. Be easy with yourself. Don’t “beat yourself up” over what you haven’t been doing. When the judgmental side of your mind starts being negative, just say to yourself, “ This doesn’t serve me anymore and I don’t need it.” Then repeat a positive message to yourself such as : “I love my new way of being” or “I feel amazing” etc
  2. Take a step back. Take a good look at where you are putting pressure on yourself – being aware of this really helps. The key is to take a few deep breaths and relax, be comfortable, and ready to meet the next challenge. For some people, this can be challenging because they equate pressure with achievement. In reality, the less pressure you feel, the better you will do.
  3. Meditate. This is so important – even 5 minutes per day will really help as stress is allowed to dissolve and the body and mind relaxes.
  4. Get good sleep every night. Getting enough rest is key for a balanced state.
  5. Me time. Take some time each day for “me time” and be really disciplined about including this in your day. – Don’t use TV for this purpose!
  6. Exercise. Get some exercise every day and try to move a little every hour.
  7. Be in the present. This is perhaps the most important of all. Stress is created by the past or future – staying in the present really helps to reduce stress.
